Are these pencils really worth the money?
Yes, they are expensive but not without reason. They are lightfast and of excellent quality. Every Artist knows how important it is to use lightfast pencils so that your artwork does not fade away in time. If a client buys an artwork from you and the colors starts to fade you won't have a very happy client. Colored pencil art is very time consuming and you also do not want your hard work to fade after a while.
Faber-Castell is a German Company founded in 1761 and till this day this company provide many artists with top quality art supplies from student to professional.
The Faber-Castell Polychromos have a round barrel of 8mm and a 3.8mm core. They sit well in your hand and are very nice to work with. These pencils are oil based and highly pigmented.
The Faber-Castell Polychromos comes in various set sizes and they are also available in open stock. The nice thing about pencils being available in open stock is that you can fill your set and even add more colors to your collection if you bought a smaller set. The biggest set has 120 pencils. The colors is very beautiful and well thought through. This is my go to pencils for fine details. You can sharpen them to a fine point to achieve those fine details.
They work great with solvents and it's easy to layer and blend with these pencils with or without solvent. They can also be used along with other colored pencils. For a very long time I dreamt of having these pencils I finally bought my first set about a year ago...I have the full set of 120 pencils but I have seen artists making beautiful art with only a small set of these pencils. I would say these pencils are well worth the price. Till now I haven't had any point breakage and this makes me a happy artist and customer!
I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for quality artist pencils these will not dissapoint. The Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils are available in tins, but Faber-Castell also has a beautiful 120 Pencil Wood Box Set. 😍
