Derwent Inktense Pencils.
These pencils are very unique...They are watersoluble but definitely not like other watersoluble pencils. The reason I say they aren't the same as the rest is because once you've activated them with water they can't be re-activated. This means you can add layer over layer over layer. Just make sure you fully activate them because if there are still some dry pigment left they may smear or get activated when you do the next layer.
The Derwent Inktense pencils are very vibrant. The colors in this range is lovely. The biggest set they come in is 72 colors. This may not sound like a lot of colors but the nice thing about these pencils are you can mix your colors. This also allows you to purchase a smaller set and still make beautiful artworks. You can mix them dry or wet but the magic does not end here. You can use these pencils on material and a lot of other surfaces aswell. Derwent also made Derwent Inktense Ink Blocks and these you can use as paint! They are especially nice to fill large backgrounds.
If you want to add fine details with your other colored pencils or even make a mixed media artwork you can do that aswell. You can use them with all your other brands without any issues.
At first I wasn't sure if these pencils were for me and instead of buying the biggest set I bought the 36 Set to see how I like them. To my suprise I love them!
So far I had no point breaks and I really enjoy using them and combining them with my other pencils. I also did not expect to get so much from a 36 set. I never quite liked watersoluble pencils before but these were a game changer for me. Inktense pencils are available as open stock so if you feel like starting with a small set you can also add to it as you go. They are fun to work with and someday I hope to get my hands on a full set!
